In collaboration with #iaff1918, we are leading an In collaboration with #iaff1918, we are leading an innovative charge to improve the wellness and fitness of all fire fighters via the Fit To Thrive (F2T) program.

We have committed to making education more accessible (readily available to all members), inclusive (structured to accommodate diverse interests, needs and learning styles) and meaningful (focused on learning and community influence).

This has involved a renewed commitment to the growth and professional development of our program ambassadors and the creation of a community of influence.

We strongly believe the collective efforts of several outweigh those of any individual, and thus F2T is committed to growing and supporting a community that works together to improve fire fighter wellness and fitness.

Since June of 2021, more 1800 fire fighters and 500 departments from 57 states and provinces have joined the F2T community.

As more departments become involved the number of resources being made available will continue to increase. There is so much more that we can accomplish together, and the F2T program aims to facilitate this progress!

Hygiene is defined as “Practices conducive to ma Hygiene is defined as “Practices conducive to maintaining health and preventing disease.” For example, we all spend a few minutes every day on our dental hygiene to maintain oral health when we brush our teeth.

Although not typically considered, maintaining the mobility (and joint health) to navigate the demands of work, life and play can be accomplished in the same way!

Leverage a few minutes while you’re brushing your teeth, sending an email or watching your favorite show to work on accessing or controlling specific joint positions.

Just a few minutes today can spare months down the road!

It is easy to lay blame on others or factors outsi It is easy to lay blame on others or factors outside of our control when things don’t go well.

But in many instances, it is our actions (or lack thereof) that lead to creating the conditions or outcomes we say we don’t want.

Be honest, take initiative, accept responsibility for things you can control, and change the conditions in your favour!
