Core training must involve than just side planks and sit-ups, especially when considering the dynamic and often chaotic nature of the fire ground. For fire fighters with performance and injury prevention related goals, core training should be progressed via the fundamental principles of exercise science using complex whole-body activities. This workshop will discuss the role of the core, considerations when designing core training interventions, and provide attendees an opportunity to experience a variety of core training options. Come willing to move!
This workshop involves active participation – attendees should come prepared to move and ensure they have approximately 25 sq/ft of open space in view of the camera. No specific equipment is required, but having access to bands and a dumbbell or kettlebell is recommended.
