F2T 110 – Fitness Fundamentals

If you held an ACE PFT certificate that expired on/before December 31, 2021 and are transitioning to the Fit To Thrive Program as an F2T PFT, THIS VERSION OF THE COURSE IS NOT FOR YOU. Please click HERE to be directed to the proper F2T 110 course. If you are unsure which course you should take, please contact info@fittothrive.ca.

The utility of any exercise program will depend on the target population and how it is administered, promoted and/or performed. For this reason, the ability to think critically is paramount to the success of any fitness professional. Often, ‘it depends’ is the most appropriate response to describe the utility of a particular intervention. However, it is the ability to know why “it depends” that distinguishes exceptional professionals who impact lives from those who design good workouts. This course will highlight several fundamental principles critical to the design and implementation of any exercise program.

How is the Course Delivered

F2T 110 is delivered virtually and takes approximately 4 hours. Attendees will be able to work through the course at their own pace, on their own time.

What to Expect from the Course

F2T 110 is an abbreviated version of F2T 101, and will improve attendees’ ability to assess, design, implement and evaluate exercise sessions for fire fighters with varying interests.

Physical activity is not a substitute for mental h Physical activity is not a substitute for mental health treatment when needed, but it does play a significant role in our cognitive, social, and emotional well-being.

Just 10 minutes of exercise or physical activity can...

…Reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression.

…Improve feelings of connectedness and social support.

…Increase confidence and emotional control.

…Enhance body image and lower feelings of guilt.

…Improve cognition, attention, and intrinsic motivation.

Tremendous work being done by the Mental Health and Physical Activity Research Centre at the University of Toronto to better understand the link between exercise and mental health.

Be more active, more often, but seek help when needed.
